Worry

— David Eisbach

When I hear, “Don’t worry.”
It doesn’t help me.
Worry is one of those slinky words,
it bends in the middle.
so bothersome and unwieldy,
It’s not a solid emotion
you can get a hold of
like hate, love, truth and grit.
Worry is quiet and solitary.
You can’t offend anyone
or embarrass yourself because
you just drive yourself crazy.
Worry has no limits
It’s an equal opportunity disturber.
You can worry about polar bears
on melting ice caps, the extra pounds
you can’t seem to lose or that there
will be an idiot in the Whitehouse
next year. Or you can worry that the
next intersection you start to cross
there will be someone heading your way
just finishing a text with LOL!
