She Saw Five Moons

The first filled the firmament with gloried effulgence
Laughed like a god as it heralded the harvest
The second, more gibbous, more mortal seemed
Stately still, it climbed the cloud-storied sky
Of the two that came next, not much was revealed
Their visages bore blemishes which belied their beauty
But the one that remained after the cataracts healed
Was as unsheathed steel, hard as hope, a star in its lap
