If You were Me

— Nick Butterfield

If

you were

me, Your resume

would Sound like busy,

Bees, buzzing, hungry

between the lines, mapping

their way back to the Queen.

If I were me, my arches would

Be golden, my only breath would

Be seen in aspen leaves before

They fall. If we were us,

There Would be no need

for time, just honey

between the

lines.

  1. A gem, Nick, like so many of your poems! I’m so glad to be able to see this, to notice how the visual shape matches the care of the sounds, and the message inside. A sweet treat for us all.
